The first zero carbon city

The first zero carbon city will be called Masdar, which in Arabic means the source, and will be the first city 100% sustainable planet.
With this, Abu Dhabi, the largest of the UAE, aims to become the first world reference in green energy, despite being one of the biggest global exporter of oil, investing in the proposed 15,000 million dollars in its first phase.
The initiative, born from the mind of Sultan Al Jaber and announced by Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahayn at the Energy Summit for the Future, held in the country, will culminate in the release of the British architect Norman Foster, which provides end this adventure green at the end of 2009.
The new city will be self-sufficient in a desert area in the heart of the Arab emirates, finally seized six million square meters, where in summer reach attained 50th centigrade.
In this land of the future, there will be no cars, everything will work through energies renovales digitally monitored and the level of carbon will be reduced to zero, although its appearance is not futuristic, but rather on the contrary, will be adapted to the traditional structures of the area: the style casbah.
In this traditional Arabic prevail pedestrian streets, narrow and bleak, to keep at bay the arid desert climate. Precisely ventilation is one of the largest betting and obsessions of the project, and the solution is to install two towers that reflect the current cold and expel the heat outside the city.
We talk about outside as the forecast is that the city is surrounded by a network of walls that protect them from inclement potential to 50,000 inhabitants, and that outside these are all installed photovoltaic farms, plantations and wind points to supply the energy inside.
To start the building of this historic site, the first step is to build a large solar plant that supplied the works with enough energy to power the entire city erected without the need for external assistance. As the plant will be becoming obsolete and invalid, will be retiring.
For the first four months of this year is believed that the town may already accommodating ecological approximately 15,000 people, and from the office Foster and Partners, Gerard Evenden says that since then it's feasible to get a city carbon and zero waste.
One of the most impressive innovations of the project, is that the structure of the complex will be distributed in such a way that absolutely all the residents will be placed up to 200 meters of public transport, are at the point of the city they are.
